RED PLAINS CAMPGROUND WALKS
Sunset Hill Walk
Situated at the Station Stay, the Sunset Lookout Walk begins 50m northeast of the campground. It is a 5 to 10 min easy walk (depending on fitness) to the top of the hill where you can admire the awesome 360 degree EPIC PILBARA view, which overlooks the Cheela Plains to the south and the foothills of the Hamersley Ranges to the north. Sunset (or sunrise for early risers) is an ideal time to make the trek but is well worth the effort any time of day. Time allowed for this walk is entirely dependent on how long you admire the beautiful, changing colours of the landscape.
Cave Walk
The walk to the cave is an easy 6 km return hike and is perfect for those who want the security of seeing where they’ve been and where they are going. Depart from the campground and head northeast around the hill turning east at the yards and the Cave will be in your sites. This was the location of the Pensini’s eldest son’s wedding in June 2019. Allow 2 hours return.
