GETTING HERE

Cheela Plains Station is located 170 kms southwest of Tom Price Visitor Centre (via Paraburdoo) and 460 kms northeast of Exmouth on the Nanutarra-Munjina Road (Hwy 136). The Station Stay is situated 1 km off the main highway and is accessible by 2 wheel drive car.

ARRIVE BY ROAD

Travelling from the north or south:

The Nanutarra-Munjina Road is 6 kms north of the Nanutarra Roadhouse and 34 kms south of the Onslow turnoff off the Northwest Coastal Highway (Hwy 1). Follow the Nanutarra/Munjina Road east toward Tom Price approximately 180 kms to Cheela Plains Station. The Station Stay turnoff is on the south side of the road, 500m east of the Beasley River bridge. Follow the gravel road approximately 2 km over the hill to your destination.

Travelling from the east (Karijini, Tom Price or Paraburdoo):

Follow the Nanutarra-Munjina Road west towards Nanutarra. Cheela Plains is 40 kms west of the Tom Price-Paraburdoo T-Junction. The Station Stay turnoff is on the south  side of the road before crossing the Beasley River bridge. Follow the gravel road 1 km over the hill to your destination.



ARRIVE BY AIR

Paraburdoo Airport is 110 kms east of Cheela Plains and has up to 5 flights per day operated by Qantas Link return from Perth. Hire cars available from Hertz, Budget, Avis and Thrifty.

WEATHER

The winter months average around 25°C during the day, which is ideal for walking, experiencing the gorge and exploring the station, please ensure you have adequate water, sun protection and insect repellent while exploring.

The temperatures can drop to 1°C at night, so bring warm clothes (thermals, jumpers, jackets, beanies, gloves) and if camping, bring extra bedding (blankets, hot water bottles and warm sleeping bags).

Our local weather station is located at Paraburdoo Airport. Please note that Cheela Plains Sation is generally a few degrees warmer than Paraburdoo.
